Fantasy Planet Fun

This is my video that I created for my 3rd graders to learn from and study in more visual detail about the solar system and its planets. During this assignment my students will watch the video and learn some facts about each planet so that they than can pick a planet to write a fantasy fun adventure from. Personally I feel that students that can use technology and a visual aid get much more out of the project and seem to retain it longer.

Solar System Spreadsheet

My 3rd grade students have been studying the solar system and its planets. They have been collecting data on each planet from the internet for the last few weeks. Each of my students will be required to gather together their information and fill in the blank spaces within the spreadsheet with the appropriate answers. Once the spreadsheet has been created they can design it the way they'd like. After all this has been accomplished the students will need to pick one or two different types of information from the spreadsheet to than create a chart using their chosen information. I feel that this will be a fund and interesting lesson because not only will the kids learn about the solar system but also how to retrieve information from the computer and than once they place it in their spreadsheets than they can see a visual example before them of the same information. The chart will let them see the same information but displayed in a different format.

My kidspiration is to help 3rd graders to learn more about the solar system. To prepare for this lesson my class will have researched the different planets and will inform the class about the different things they have learned. Than the students will go to the computer and be required to do an interaction lesson that has the planets, with bits of information listed below them. First thing that will be necessary prior to doing the lesson is to click on the directions and hear what they will be required to do. Stars have all the planets names listed within them so that they can line up each planet across from its star (with its name in it.)
